What Is Darkwave
Darkwave is an umbrella term for music that combines the atmospheric darkness of post-punk and gothic rock with electronic instrumentation and production. The term is loosely applied but generally describes music characterised by synthesisers, programmed drums or cold electronic percussion, dark romantic themes, and a production aesthetic that emphasises space, reverb, and the uncanny.
